Worshipfest is primarily the annual anniversary celebration of 6:22 Ministries that is held every fall. It is an opportunity to rejoice in what God has done the past year. (I Chronicles 16:8-12)
One of our goals is to draw many diverse students together from the body of Christ. This call to unity goes out to all students regardless of race or denomination. (Psalms 133:1)
We hope to see students step out of their comfort zones as they begin to worship God in new and creative ways through the arts. (Exodus 31:1-5) Along with various musical styles, we encourage the use of other "instruments" - our bodies for dancing, paint brushes for art, pens and pencils to write, our voices to sing and shout, and more! We have followed the patterns of the world too long (Romans 12:2), it is time for the body of Christ to set the standard for artistic expression and creativity.
The few days spent together is only the beginning. Worshipfest will only make a difference if it is followed by a lifestyle of worship. (Romans 12:1) Our hope is that this event will spark a fire and fan a flame of passion for Jesus Christ that burns in students for the rest of their lives. Worshipfest will be the kick-off for a brand new season of ministry for 6:22, and our goal is that students will return home and continue to meet together often to worship as a community.
We want Worshipfest to be balanced in spirit and truth. Jesus said in John 4:23 that "...a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." Everything will be Christ-centered (Jesus said "I am the truth"), and the Bible will be the absolute standard for ministry. We must also worship in Spirit - allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us in the will of God. All plans and schedules are subject to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
